Care Outside the Bathroom

Brushing twice daily with a specially formulated sensitivity toothpaste with fluoride, like those in the Sensodyne range, is one of the most effective ways to manage tooth sensitivity while also helping to keep your teeth and gums healthy. However, there are other ways you can help to manage your sensitivity.

  • Don’t skip visits to the dentist Make an appointment to see your dentist if you haven’t been in the last 6 months.
  • Prevent teeth grinding If you know you grind your teeth, or if you feel discomfort in your teeth when you wake up in the morning, we recommend that you ask your dentist about this as soon as you can.

Enjoying your favourite food and drinks

Over time, acidic foods and drinks can contribute to enamel erosion and tooth wear. These include fruit and fruit juices, carbonated drinks, black coffee or tea, wine and anything that tastes sharp, like ketchup or salad dressing. If you are at risk of acid wear, talk to your dentist for advice, for example, on how to best to consume acidic food and drinks. You can also try a toothpaste specially formulated to help protect teeth against acid erosion such as Sensodyne Repair and Protect.
